Week 7 FBS College Football Part 1

This is Steven West with an FBS College Football update.

First here is the AP Top 25 Poll:
(1) Oklahoma (5-0)
(2)  Alabama (6-0)
(3) Missouri (5-0)
(4) Louisiana State (4-0)
(5) Texas (5-0)
(6) Penn State (6-0)
(7) Texas Tech (5-0)
(8) Southern California (3-1)
(9) Brigham Young (5-0)
(10) Georgia (4-1)
(11) Florida (4-1)
(12) Ohio State (5-1)
(13) Vanderbilt (5-0)
(14) Utah (6-0)
(15) Boise State (4-0)
(16) Kansas (4-1)
(17) Oklahoma State (5-0)
(18) Virginia Tech (5-1)
(19) South Florida (5-1)
(20) Auburn (4-2)
(21) Wake Forest (3-1)
(22) North Carolina (4-1)
(23) Michigan State (5-1)
(24) Pittsburgh (4-1)
(25) Ball State (6-0)

While everyone is talking about Ball State, I'm more excited about North Carolina and Michigan State debuting in the Top 25.  Chapel Hill is getting love in the Football poll where we wouldn't see them in a poll until November, when College Basketball roles around. Hopefully with Michigan State entering, Javon Walker can finally start earning some respect for the Heisman voting.  And now my conference breakdown.

ACC:
With the addition of the Tar Heels into the Top 25, the ACC, as a whole, is starting to gain some respect back.  Virginia Tech is back where they started the year.  Three of the last four victories for the Hokies have been by 3, 3, and 5 points.  Their last win was against Western Kentucky by 14.  This week,Virginia Tech is on a bye, afterwards, the remaining schedule is all ACC opponents, including Boston College, Florida State, and Maryland.  If the Hokies are able to keep this win streak up, they need to get their passing game going.  Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon have a combined 2 touchdown passes.

Big 12:
Last weekend all six ranked teams won their respected matches.  This week's sleeper game is (17) Oklahoma State vs. (3) Missouri.  ESPN.com Senior Writer, Ivan Maisel, believes that this is the game where the Tigers will prove they are a force to be reckoned with.  But the big game of the week needs only two words, Red River.  (5) Texas takes on (1) Oklahoma.  The question for Texas is can they establish a run game that is not led by Quarterback, Colt McCoy.  McCoy has 124 more rushing yards than Cody Johnson but 2 less rushing touchdowns.  The first quarterback that throws for more than 300 yards, will win this game for his team.

Pac-10:
Mitch Mustain, the transfer from Arkansas, may make his first start for (8) USC as the Trojans play Arizona State on Saturday.  The Sun Devils may also end up playing with a back up QB as well. Starter Rudy Carpenter, may miss with an ankle injury, suffered during Arizona State's 24-14 loss to California.  Junior Danny Sullivan, may make his first ever collegiate start and not at a good place either, the L.A. Coliseum.  Washington gets a much needed bye week before facing Oregon State on October 8th.

Look for more later this week.
