Another week has passed in the NFL and the first week of October is in the books. The NFC East is shaping up to be a great show as the season winds down. So far the Giants remain undefeated after destroying the Seahawks. Doing it with or without Plaxico Burress. In the drama that is Dallas, the Cowboys seemed to have settled down after rebounding from a loss last week with win over the Bengals. Terrel Owens shouldn't worry about receptions seeing that Dallas has the second highest scoring offense in the league and the 3rd most yards per game. The Redskins are sitting comfortably in second behind the Giants, the only team to beat them so far. Jim Zorn and co. are one of the surprises of the NFL. Their next three games are against Cleveland and the terrible Lions and the worse St. Louis Rams. In Phili Donovan McNabb said that the Eagles should be embarrassed for the way they have been playing. They have a good match up this week against the 49er's then a bye. This could be a good week for the Eagles to turn it around.
Meanwhile as Chicago mourns the loss of it's baseball post-seasons, the Bears have flown under the radar and are first in the NFC North. Kyle Orton has lead the Bears offense to some great performances. Of course having the 4th best rush defense doesn't hurt either. Up north in the Dairy Land, Aaron Rodgers has missed some practice but is expected to start this Sunday against Seattle. The Packers are trying to prevent loosing a 3rd straight game against a sinking Seattle.
In the AFC, the Patriots are proving that they can win without Tom Brady. Matt Cassel threw 22 for 32 for 259 yds. with one touch down and two picks over San Francisco. New England has a game against the Chargers. A game in which its gut check time for the Bolts. San Diego needs a win in order to keep pace with Denver. Its hard to believe the only thing separating the Raiders and the Chargers is one win. Add the fact its gonna be on national TV and you got yourself a good game.
In the Circle City, the Colts are coming off a whirlwind comeback last week against Houston. Having suffered some injuries the Colts would seem to be limping back to Lucas Oil Field. There they will host Baltimore and try to win for the first time in their new home. The Colts haven't lost their first three home games since 1997. The Colts need a decisive victory this Sunday and a good showing against the tough Ravens defense would swing momentum towards the Colts this season as the Titans continue on their winning streak.
Last week I went 2 for 2 on my picks.
This week I'll take Carolina over the Bucs in a important NFC south match up
I'll Take the Colts to get their first home win over Baltimore
The Eagles over San Fran
And my game of the week I'll take New England over the Chargers
