Another week, another Les Miles' shocker

It's official, I don't understand LSU coach Les Miles. One week he goes for it on fourth down 5 times in a win over Florida, then he calls 4 straight run plays against Kentucky and loses. Miles has done it again. This time it's against Auburn. Miles calls a pass play for his #4 Tigers with only a few seconds left. He could have been conservative and set a up a game winning field goal, but where is the fun in that? Matt Flynn finds Demetrius Byrd for the 22-yard touchdown with ONE second left, which if had been tipped would have ended the game. Miles is an interesting guy. His risky play calling is going to catch up with him before the end of the season. This could spell doom for the Bayou Bengals national title hopes, especially with top ranked teams falling every week. LSU is still in the hunt for a national title birth due to the fact that they play in the best conference in the nation, the SEC. If the Tigers win out, I can't see why they could not sneak into the title game. Especially with the Eagles of Boston College playing a tough contest tonight against Virginia Tech.

Let's talk about tonight's game real quick. The game is in Blacksburg, which is one of the top 3 toughest stadiums to play a game. Especially with the crowd support. You can't beat the whole student section (which takes up a good portion of the stadium) dressed in black, jumping up and down to Metallica's "Enter Sandman", and then having the team rush the field after the song has whipped the fans into a frenzy. Tonight is also a night that BC's Matt Ryan can make a strong case for this year's Heisman trophy. He's the QB of one of the best teams in the nation, which voters love to see. Ryan has also made sure his Eagles have not suffered losses to unranked opponents like many other Heisman candidates (DeSean Jackson anyone?). Tonight's game between the Eagles and Hokies is a toss up. The Eagles are undefeated and have Matt Ryan. The game is on Thursday and the Hokies are 13-2 on Thursday night contests. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 in the BCS and have defenses in the top 30 in the country. Should be a great game.

Here is this week's BCS top 10:

1. Ohio State
2. Boston College
3. LSU
4. Arizona State
5. Oregon
6. Oklahoma
7. West Virginia
8. Virginia Tech
9. Kansas
10. South Florida

Even with their loss last week, South Florida is still in the top 10. I don't see them going any higher than #7 in the BCS, the Big East is just too weak. But the better Auburn does, USF could rise back to the top 5.

Here is my top 3 Heisman (and yes DeSean Jackson is not on here. Got a lot flack for that one. We all make mistakes right?)

1. Matt Ryan (Boston College)
2. Dennis Dixon (Oregon)
3. Tim Tebow (Florida)

A side note: Look out for Mike Hart. He still might make a trip to New York if Michigan stays on the roll they are on now.

Remember to tune into Cardinal College Gameday, Saturday at 10 AM on 91.3 WCRD or wcrd.net
